Cidco official, “”Kharghar is distinguished for being the educational hub, while Taloja is the largest industrial stretch in Navi Mumbai. From Kharghar, people have to travel all the way to Taloja, covering a distance of 10 km via Kopri village and the Taloja bypass. Since heavy duty vehicles, containers and trailers dominate all the time, the road is uneven and very difficult to negotiate for lighter vehicles. So we are planning to construct a wide road from sector 16 of Kharghar to Taloja without touching the existing 8 km road via the Kopri bypass.
Cidco is toying with the idea of developing a mass housing scheme at Taloja and its preliminary works have already started. Before launching the housing scheme, Cidco wanted to provide connectivity to Taloja so as to attract property buyers. Cidco, which successfully launched the Vastu Vihar and Celebration Housing projects at Kharghar, has shifted its focus to Taloja for developing affordable mass housing schemes.
However, the Cidco administration is well aware that the task cannot be completed unless proper road connectivity and transportation is provided in Taloja. If Taloja is directly connected with Kharghar by road; the industrial town will attract buyers, who cannot afford costly housing at Kharghar. With the new road, the travelling distance between Kharghar and Taloja will be reduced to 4 km.”
The road will set a benchmark of a modern road networking system in advanced cities. Without the hassles of traffic jams, one can reach Taloja from Kharghar within a few minutes, said the official.
“”A wide foot path, 2-meter wide road dividers and 8-meter fountains will be added to the road,” he added. In addition to the industrial workers of Taloja-based industries, the residents of Kharghar, Parsipada, and other urban villages in the Kharghar-Taloja will be the beneficiaries of the road.
A resolution in this context will be placed before the Cidco directorial board for approval and the work will commence immediately after approval. The road will mark the opening of more avenues in the overall development of Taloja. Over the last few years, the residents of Taloja and the adjoining villages have not had proper road connectivity and transportation, due to the lethargy of the concerned authorities.””
For all basic amenities, like education, health service, shopping, entertainment and recreation, the residents have to travel all the way to Panvel or Thane. “”With the proposed road being developed, Kharghar would be very closer to them and their nearest destination for everything,”” said B R Patil, a resident of Bavinja village and former chairman of the Raigad Zilla Parishad.
The authorities were not so concerned about providing better amenities, including proper road connectivity in Taloja, for reasons known only to them. Appreciating the new initiative, a local developer said, “”Taloja has taken the centre stage for many upcoming housing projects, including the one that was launched by Cidco. No doubt the road will improve transportation between Kharghar and Taloja. It will also help all industries, including housing projects, to flourish in the Taloja industrial belt.””
